As many of you will know, recently Ubuntu released its latest operating system, Intrepid Ibex Inevitably, Ubuntu tends to get all the attention, so in the interests of other Linux users, I thought it may be useful to take a look at the KDE version, who's claim to fame is it uses KDE 4.1 natively.

This Desktop section and Howto's cover applications that run from the Gnome, KDE, XFCE and many other Xserver window managers. These applications are defined as programs that run from one or more of the Windows Managers above rather than from a console session.
When new users first come to Linux, they are often amazed at the lack of icons on the desktop. In fact, to a new user, the desktop can look positively barren.

But once you know how, it's really easy to populate your desktop to your hearts content - should you so wish!
