What is Retro Gaming and what does it have to do with Linux and SoSLUG?

Retro Gaming is a flash back to the past, a chance to re-experience the many painful memories of installing games and programs that run on the likes of the BBC 'B' Acorn computer and the ZX Spectrum to name only a few. With the prospect of emulators it is possible to re-experience the use of these machines and the games & programs that used to run on them.

On March 10th SoSLUG launches it Linux Install Festival at this Festival we aim to provide a taste of nostalgia with the ability to sample for yourself the games and other programs available for the home retro PC market. If you have any old working portable colour televisions you no longer require please consider donating these to SoSLUG or the Mediashed, we have one so far but require at least five others. We very much regret we cannot accept any non working portable television. Please make donations to Derek Shaw at the MediaShed on 01702 460590 he will arrange to collect if you cannot deliver to us. Note we would like to thank everyone that had donated equipment to the Retro Gaming events, more events are planed but may take a while to conclude, we have no requirement for any additional portable televisions at this time.

SoSLUG is working to restore these memories from the past, not only with emulators but the computers themselves donated by enthusiast's and members alike.

We are currently in the process of setting up two festivals for Retro Gaming both are unconfirmed at present so no details yet. Please watch this space for further News.

If you to would like to participate in these events or can donate or loan some equipment for the festival we would like to here from you.
