Acer 1310 Linux Installation
Acer Aspire 1310 Laptop Computer
Strange as it may seem it has been extremely difficult to install my preferred Ubuntu Linux Operating System, this laptop being destined for Morroco it was extremely important that it was installed with a Linux Open Source Operating System. The systems that were tried include the following:- Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 beta Desktop release
- Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Desktop
- LinuxMint 6 Felicia
- OpenSuSE Ver 11.1
- PCLinux 2009
PCLinuxOS Wifi
Introduction
Networking remains a mystery for many home users, but in fact, simple networks can be set-up by just about anyone, with fairly minimal knowledge. Graphical User Interfaces (GUI's) have made a once command line speciality, a realistic option for everyone. In Windows®, you get a wizard and in PCLinuxOS, much the same. Wireless is becoming the de facto standard for home use, due to it's lack of cables and ease of placement. This page will attempt to answer some of the common misconceptions and give an insight into setting up a wireless connection in PCLinuxOS.
How do I install PCLinuxOS.
Introduction.
As Linux is still a mystery to many people, the purpose of this Wiki page is to hold your hand and enable you to install PCLinuxOS 2007. Accompanied with screen shots, it aims to provide all the answers you need for a successful installation.

Mystery of the disappearing sound.
The problem
After installing PCLinuxOS on an Acer 5051AWXMi laptop, the sound would disappear whenever I rebooted the computer.
This was strange behavior, as when ran it from the Live CD, it worked perfectly. Furthermore, if I ran the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Configurator in a terminal, (command = alsaconf), the sound would work yet again until the next time I rebooted the machine.
Clearly from the afore mentioned behavior, something wasn't happening during the boot sequence - part 1.
