Progress Update

Through SoSLUG's association within the art and media community, Derek was able to put Martin Houston in touch with a tutor (Ruth Catlow) at Writtle college. As a consequence, the college is the proposed venue for future meetings, beginning at the start of term in September onwards. Details of dates and times of meetings, will be published in due course.

Ruth is well placed to assist Martin accomplish his aim of setting up a Chelmsford based Linux User Group. She is a great advocate of Open Source software, launching her who zero dollar laptop project. As well as teaching at Writtle college, she is also director of Furtherfield in North London.

Hello everyone.

We're back!.

Sadly, as a result of our forced disappearance, the site is lacking in certain aspects. For example, some links may be broken and some images may not be visible at the moment. But rest assured, we're working hard behind the scenes fixing things as we find them.

It has always been a desire of SoSLUG members to offer useful, coherent information, to anyone who comes to visit us, whether in person, (and we're always delighted to welcome visitors on a Monday evening) or via this site.

Templates add a consistency of style to web pages via styles sheets. For example by adding a class rule. to a <p> tag, i.e. <p class = 'justify- right' > text can be justified right simply and without specific knowledge of CSS style rules.
The second section shows how, notes warnings and updates can be added to enhance the look of a document, again simply by adding a class rule.

Simply add a class rule to the paragraph <p> ,or <div> tag if you want one than one consecutive paragraph reformatted. E.g

This section introduces various operating procedures which are intended to create a consistent approach when carrying a process. Irrespective of whether the user is a novice or advanced user, to reduce the possibility of errors being made, the procedures should provide a series of steps for the user and be easy to follow.

The name of the Association shall be Southend on Sea Linux User Group, referred to in this document as SoSLUG.

Workflow review

SoSLUG document review process

Anyone with the mimimum privileges of authenticated user can create a new document (either a page or book content type). In doing so they will trigger a (tokenised) email to the administrator/moderators. The initial workflow review state is Draft. The Drupal default publishing states for both Book and Page are unpublished.

SoSLUG Banner Competition

Outline of Competition

You may have noticed, we recently upgraded the SoSLUG theme. One key feature of the new theme is the banner at the top of the page changes, depending on the page and section of the menu you are currently viewing. At present though quite a few sections do not have their own banner and so the default banner of a jigsaw, with a piece missing is used instead (see below for example).
