First, I have to say I don't as a general rule play games on computers; it's not my thing, but as I was requested to evaluate FlightGear, I'll do my best to give a fair impression of what I found.

Simulations

Linux Simulation Games

A difficult classification so we have decided to extend the classification category to include simulations, some might argue the applications are educational and your right or at least they can be, they are also applications that require skill, however although these games (simulations) require skill to use properly it is still relatively easy to use without fear of going wrong.

This section is not concerned with the age groups as such to which these games are classified only the method by which the games themselves are installed along with any quirkiness we feel you need to know that might effect your installation. Ok possibly none of the games listed on this page will appeal to you they are not intended to, these games provide another purpose and that is to educate the young.

TuxType - Educational Software

This software is still probably aimed at the young and designed to elevate the apptitude and dexterity with regards to touch typing and keyboard skills. However when developing the grey cells it is just as valid no matter what age you are.
