Most people are unaware that there is an alternative to Windows, Or Mac's, and that is Linux. Yes that's right, all powered by Linux, so to are many checkout desks, ATM's and modern TV's. So why not check it out?
Using a Live CD, you don't even have to install Linux to try it, most Linux magazines will include a DVD with a live distro on it and there are many Open Source applications, you can use. For example Libre Office is the open source equivalent, and is compatible with, the Microsoft Office suite. This is usually included by default in most Linux distros, but there ar many more, from games to specialist applications that are Science or Engineering based. Oh and by the way, did I forget to mention that being open source, it is free to use, so not locking you into any proprietary products.
