SoSLUG website improvements.

Hello everyone.

We're back!.

Sadly, as a result of our forced disappearance, the site is lacking in certain aspects. For example, some links may be broken and some images may not be visible at the moment. But rest assured, we're working hard behind the scenes fixing things as we find them.

It has always been a desire of SoSLUG members to offer useful, coherent information, to anyone who comes to visit us, whether in person, (and we're always delighted to welcome visitors on a Monday evening) or via this site.

Please bare with us as we attempt to get the site to a respectable state again.

The SoSLUG web site is actually two sites, but part of the work we're doing at present, is to amalgamate everything into one - soslug.org. This should make it far easier for all our visitors, as it removes potential confusion on where you need to go.

We thank you for your patience while these changes are taking place. If you do experience any problems such as a broken link, it would be really helpful if you could tell us, so we can fix it - thank you!

Introduction and some website observations

Hi guys, I was googling about in an idle moment and decided to look for a local LUG and I found you! My name is Stephen and I live in Chelmsford. I have been using Linux (openSuse) for about three years but am not at all expert. I was looking for some local Tuxers to have a beer with and maybe share some useful info etc. Now; I don't wish in my introduction post to be a grumpy complainer, but, I would not be able to hide it for long so I might as well 'come out' right away with some first impressions. The front page http://wiki.soslug.org/ Of 1000 people who come to this sit from Google or any other search engine, 999 will have a good knowledge of what Linux and OSS is and why. The other one will have got there by mistake. What they will not know is what and who SoSlug is and what it does, if they meet up, how often, and where. Nowhere on the site could I find any "Contact us" or "Join us" info or welcome. Trawling through some articles the occasional scrap comes up "Mondays" from one page "Mediashed" from another. No address, time etc etc. For example, from this page:
It has always been a desire of SoSLUG members to offer useful, coherent information, to anyone who comes to visit us, whether in person, (and we're always delighted to welcome visitors on a Monday evening) or via this site.
Anyway, enough for now, I look forward to meeting you all and having a good moan about something else, Sincerely, Mr Grumpy, aka Wakou aka Stephen.
